Morgan Schneiderlin is in little doubt as to how good a signing Jose Mourinho is and believes the Portuguese man to be one of the best coaches in the world.
Schneiderlin is looking forward to working with the incoming manager and he spoke about winning titles at Manchester United under Mourinho, who has won league titles at every club he has managed.
The French midfielder has been doing some research and spoke to Lassana Diarra about Mourinho with his French compatriot confirming just how good of a coach he is.
Speaking about Mourinho, he said: “As everybody knows Jose is one of the best coaches in the world. I spoke to Diarra and he only said good things about him. I’m really looking forward to working with Mourinho, finding out his methods and winning back the title at Manchester United.”
Schneiderlin will be looking to bounce back after a mediocre first season at Manchester United. He arrived at the club shortly after Bastian Schweinstieger last summer and many believed the two would firm up Louis van Gaal‘s midfield, ensuring safety in front of the back four and holding possession as United prepared to build in attack. That never truly materialised as Schweinstieger was injured for much of the season and Schneiderlin could not control things as many expected he would.
The 26-year-old started the season in decent form but went through a difficult patch and never truly convinced under Louis van Gaal. That could all change with Jose Mourinho taking charge in recent weeks. Mourinho plays a 4-2-3-1 religiously and one of the most important areas of the field in a Mourinho-led team are the two holding midfielders.
From Diarra to Nemanja Matic and Tiago Mendes previously, the new United manager relies heavily on this position to gain control and keep a balance. Diarra played for Mourinho at Chelsea and again at Real Madrid and was one of his most trusted midfielders. Schneiderlin has taken Diarra’s place in France’s Euro squad and he will have the chance to impress when given the chance to play the holding midfield role that is so important to the Portuguese manager.
