Manchester United fans welcome Eric Bailly to the club

Manchester United fans have welcomed Eric Bailly to the club after it was confirmed that he would make the switch to Old Trafford from Villarreal on Wednesday.

Bailly signed at Man United on a four-year deal, subject to a work permit, just days after rumours emerged that the player was on Jose Mourinho’s radar.

His arrival should ‘plug the gap’ at centre-back that Daley Blind had been filling during the 2015/16 season under Louis van Gaal, to mixed effect. United fans were clearly happy with the signing:

Bailly is the sort of central defender that Mourinho has liked over the course of his career. Namely, strong, fast and tall.

His capture will cast doubt over the future of Blind, who is said to be one of a number of players that Mourinho has deemed surplus to requirements. The Portuguese is also reportedly happy to sell Juan Mata and Matteo Darmian.

It will certainly be an interesting summer in terms of incomings and outgoings and it is good that United have wrapped up their first business early.
