Memphis Depay sends cars back to Holland which fuels Man United exit rumours

Memphis Depay has had his cars collected and transported back to the Netherlands which has fuelled rumours he is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

As reported by The Mirror, Depay sent nearly a half a million worth of cars – including a £100,000 Mercedes G Wagon and a Scorpion Trike worth around £13,700 – back to his native Netherlands as speculation of an exit from Old Trafford after just one year intensifies.

Depay arrived from PSV Eindhoven after setting the Eredivisie on fire during a title-winning season, which saw him score 22 goals. The anticipation that followed Depay to United soon dissipated, however, as it was clear he needed time to settle at the club.

He scored 39 goals in 90 appearances in total for the Dutch club, but only hit the back of the net twice during 29 appearances for United in a debut season that was worth forgetting.

His last ten league games at United included just two starts and three in which he did not even get on the field. He was left out of Van Gaal’s FA Cup Final squad in what could have been his last chance to impress at United.

Jose Mourinho relies on fast wingers, which is what Depay is, but they must also be able and willing to defend when necessary. The belief is that the 22-year-old does not have the desire to get back and defend that will not sit well with Mourinho and with the emergence of Marcus Rashford and imminent signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, someone will have to be sacrificed. That player could very well be Memphis Depay.
