From Turkey: Man United agree terms to re-sign Nani

by Sam Peoples

Now, here’s a Manchester United transfer rumour we definitely didn’t expect to be writing this summer.

DHA in Turkey are reporting that Man United have agreed personal terms with none other than Nani. Yes, the Luis Nani we sold last year.

They say United have held talks with Nani after being instructed to do so by Jose Mourinho, who is keen on bringing him back to Old Trafford. I mean, where do you start with one like this?

Nani, on his day, was a world-class player who had it all: pace, trickery and a devastating finish. But those days were long gone by the time he was deemed surplus to requirements by Louis van Gaal last summer.

The Portuguese’s loan spell at Sporting Lisbon was underwhelming and he is hardly pulling up trees at his current club Fenerbahce.

It would surely be a backwards step to re-sign Nani, a 29-year-old who is past his best. Mourinho seems to have a solid grasp of who he does and doesn’t want and it would be extremely hard to imagine him being in for Nani this summer.
