Schweinsteiger was brought to Man United from Bayern Munich last summer but injury problems meant he started just 13 Premier League games during the 2015/16 campaign.
The German is one of United’s highest earners and Jose Mourinho is said to be happy to offload him in order to free up funds.
Inter were recently taken over by Chinese consortium Suning Commerce Group and Schweinsteiger could be one of the big names they bring in over the summer.
Schweinsteiger certainly had a disappointing debut season at United but there is no reason why he, along with others such as Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin, cannot be afforded a fresh start under Mourinho.
Louis van Gaal’s negative tactics tended to restrict his players last season and Mourinho should know how to properly use the likes of Schweinsteiger. But in the short-term, the 31-year-old will be focused on impressing for Germany at the European Championships.
