The Portuguese boss took over at Old Trafford last month and has already been work on transfers ahead of the new season with Eric Bailly becoming his first signing for the club.
A deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic is said to be in the works as the pair, who won Inter Milan’s 2009 Serie A title together, have been continuously linked with an Old Trafford reunion.
Speaking about Mourinho, Ince believes he’s the perfect man for Man United and has backed Ibrahimovic to shine at Old Trafford.
“Then you had Fergie walking down the touchline as well. I think we beat a lot of teams before we even kicked off,” he said.
“There was a winning mentality and an aura that frightened opponents. That aura has gone in recent seasons. Teams could easily take three points at Old Trafford. Nobody was scared when United went to their grounds any more.
“There won’t be another Sir Alex again but Jose Mourinho is the nearest you’ll get. There is nobody better than him. He’s what United have needed.
“Eric was a lot younger when he arrived at Old Trafford but Zlatan can still do it at 34.
“He’s got the stature like Cantona, the flicks and tricks. He’ll puff out his chest and take the whole stage on board like Eric did if he signs. I don’t want it to become about him though. You don’t want team-mates to be over-awed.
Mourinho has been keen on bringing in a world-class striker to the club. Man United struggled for goals last season and with the Swede scoring a record-best 50 goals in 51 appearances for PSG, it would be a great signing to help the club back to their winning ways.
Zlatan has won the league title in 13 of his last 15 seasons. He’s won titles in Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A, French Ligue 1, Dutch Eredivisie and will be hoping to add the Premier League to his glowing array of titles.
Man United were dragged across the the Premier League title-winning line in 1993 by the arrival of catalyst Eric Cantona and there’s no doubt Ibrahimovic’s arrival could have the same impact at Old Trafford next season.
