Bastian Schweinsteiger‘s goalscoring cameo for Germany in their 2-0 win over Ukraine was one of the best moments so far in terms of being a Manchester United fan.
We’re all massive fans of Schweinsteiger and were bitterly disappointed when his first season didn’t work out but drop him in a Germany shirt and the veteran always seems to step it up a gear. After all, some of his best career performances have been when he’s played for Germany at international tournaments.
An indifferent debut year in Manchester has left question marks over what to expect under Jose Mourinho in 2016/17 but fans were delighted to see him back in goalscoring action having not played much football at all since March.

Imagine if Schweinsteiger was doing that when he played for United…

Cheeky Sport are spot on…imagine if Schweinsteiger played like that for United. His passionate celebration against Ukraine reminded me a lot of what he looked like after bagging the winner away to Watford – the hunger is there with him, he just needs his body to be able to cope with it.
That’s the only question mark about Bastian and one which saw Bayern Munich replace him with Arturo Vidal. Is his body capable of going a whole season without injuries plaguing it? We’re all crossing our fingers it is because in terms of a leader, United are crying out for a player like Schweinsteiger to guide us.
We won’t give up on Schweinsteiger just yet and hopefully he can enjoy a strong Euro 2016, get a full pre-season under his belt and start next year with a bang under Mourinho.
