All eyes from Manchester United fans were on Zlatan Ibrahimovic to see how he played against Ireland in Sweden’s Euro 2016 opener.
For the majority of the game, Ireland’s defence stood resolute and the big Swede struggled to have any sort of real impact.
However, Ibrahimovic swung the game back in Sweden’s favour after his assist was turned into Ireland’s net by Ciaran Clark for an own goal and it ultimately proved to be all important as the match finished 1-1. Here’s what United fans had to say about his performance:

@PeoplesPerson_ poor by his usual standards but still created a goal.

@PeoplesPerson_ Pretty average, but still stood up to create a goal out of nothing for his country. Leader.

@PeoplesPerson_ absolutely bucked by Ciaran Clark.

@PeoplesPerson_ He is very average when he is forced to play with the shit that Sweden have to offer. Comes alive with top players about him

@PeoplesPerson_ Whelan or Macarthy always shadowed him when he dropped deep but when ball came near him in box it was nervy! Poor overall

For me, I thought his performance was muted overall yet he still came up with the goods when necessary to earn Sweden a draw they needed in such a tough group.
It wasn’t barnstorming at all from Zlatan, nor will it grab any headlines, but Zlatan providing the assist is what matters most I suppose. Although, to be fair to him, he didn’t have much service from Sweden until after they went 1-0 down.
Like Sweden, Ibrahimovic played far better following Ireland’s goal but he’s got to put in that sort of shift from the start of the game to make a real impact.
