Manchester United are now the only club left in the race to sign Valencia’s Andre Gomes following Juventus’ capture of Miralem Pjanic, according to reports.
Pjanic joined Juventus from Roma this week on a four-year contract, putting an end to speculation over his future.
Juventus had previously been linked with a move for Gomes, who scored 10 goals and registered 12 assists in 33 La Liga appearances during the 2015/16 season. But Man United are now the only club interested in the Portuguese.
Valencia would reportedly accept a bid of around £51m for the midfielder.
Gomes is a quality player who would inject a significant amount of quality into what has been a problem area for United down the years but his immediate focus will be on doing well for Portugal at Euro 2016.
It is likely that the rumours will intensify once the competition has ended, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic also reportedly set to complete a medical after fulfilling his duties for Sweden. It will certainly be an exciting ride as Mourinho looks to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League next season.
