Marouane Fellaini looking forward to working under Jose Mourinho at United

Jose Mourinho has informed Marouane Fellaini that he has a future with the club according to reports.

The Belgian is currently on duty with his national side as they vie for a place in the deeper rounds of Euro 2016 despite a difficult loss to Italy in their opening game of the tournament. Fellaini is sure to play a vital role should they achieve any form of success at the competition.

As speculation surrounds the big midfielder, Fellaini was calm and collected when discussing his future at Man United recently.

“Mourinho contacted me by text to say welcome to United and to wish me a good Euro,” he said.

“As far as my future is concerned, I’m under contract with Manchester United.

“In addition, a great manager, Jose Mourinho, is arriving. He likes to win titles and I would be honoured and proud to work with him. Now it’s up to me to show he can trust me.”

Fellaini has been considered a square peg in a round hole for quite some time at United but despite this assessment he has always found his niche at the club despite the circumstances. It was believed that Louis van Gaal preferred more technical midfielders yet Fellaini became one of Van Gaal’s most trusted players when fit.

Fellaini is possibly most like Nemanja Matic at Chelsea and might be deployed as a defensive midfielder under Mourinho. This is where he started his career and was played there under David Moyes at Everton before he became a force to be reckoned with in the role behind the striker.

Mourinho will surely take a good look at all players before deciding their future and in texting Fellaini ensured that all players are being considered and relaxed when they return to Carrington after Euro 2016.
