Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford produced a solid display in his European Championship debut for England against Wales on Thursday afternoon.
Rashford replaced Adam Lallana in Lens after 73 minutes and he helped his side complete a dramatic 2-1 victory over Wales thanks to Daniel Sturridge’s late winner.
The moment capped a remarkable few months for the 18-year-old, who has risen from playing academy football, to scoring eight goals for Man United, to representing his country. All since February.
Rashford may find it difficult to start in England’s final group stage fixture against Slovakia as Jamie Vardy also scored during the clash but the experience will be an invaluable one for him.
Jose Mourinho will certainly have one eye on the youngster’s progress as he finalises his plans for next season.
United have been linked with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Breel Embolo in recent weeks but there is no doubt that Rashford will have a huge say on the team’s fortunes next season.
