Kolo Toure: We’re proud of Eric Bailly’s move to Manchester United

Former international colleague Kolo Toure insists Eric Bailly‘s Manchester United transfer has made the Ivory Coast very proud.

Bailly became Jose Mourinho‘s first signing at Old Trafford after his £30 million switch from Villarreal in June and his rise to the top has come incredibly quickly to say he only made his professional debut in October 2014.

He made his debut for Ivory Coast in January 2015 and played alongside Toure in the successful Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Speaking about his transfer, Toure claims his work rate has been noticed by one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

“We’re proud of Eric. We’re all very happy for his move to Manchester United,” he said.

“He’s a calm guy who works a lot, and today, this work has been noticed by one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

“It’s the whole country who’s honoured.”

United splashed £30 million on a relatively unknown 22-year-old so there will be a lot of expectations on his shoulders at Old Trafford, but we all saw how Anthony Martial went from a questionable investment into one our best attackers.

He’s only the first arrival at United this summer, with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan strongly linked with moved to Old Trafford and it’s definitely an exciting time for supporters.

It’s good to see Mourinho getting transfers sorted early, he’s filling the gaps and there’s no doubt after a few more signings we’ll be looking reestablish ourselves among Europe’s elite.
