Reading consider loan move for Manchester United’s Tyler Blackett

New Reading boss Jaap Stam is considering a loan move for Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett, according to reports.

Blackett enjoyed a run in the Man United first team during the 2014/15 season but his progress has stalled since then.

The 22-year-old joined Celtic on a season-long loan deal last term but he made only four starts for the Scottish side. Jose Mourinho is set to revamp his United squad this summer and Blackett’s long-term future at Old Trafford looks uncertain.

Former United defender Stam, who recently joined Reading as manager on an initial two-year deal, is looking to capitalise on the uncertainty by bringing Blackett in.

At 22, time is running out for Blackett to make an impression at United and it appears as if a loan move would be best for him.

Mourinho made centre-back Eric Bailly his first signing recently and Blackett will find it hard to secure first team opportunities. It would be more beneficial for him to gain experience elsewhere.
