Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed talks to bring Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United are currently ongoing at Borussia Dortmund.
Man United have already had a €24m rejected as the German club would only be open to selling Mkhitaryan if they were to receive an offer of at least €40 million.
Mkhitaryan, 27, is set to enter the final year of his contract at the Westfalenstadion and his agent Mino Raiola has been continuously trying to push his transfer to Old Trafford.
He registered 23 goals and 32 assists in all competitions last term and has attracted interest from Europe’s elite clubs, but Dortmund have insisted they don’t have any plans to sell him before his contract expires.

It’s clear Jose Mourinho is looking the fill the gaps in our squad and Mkhitaryan ticks all the boxes for what United are looking for on the market, but it doesn’t look like Dortmund are making the possibility of him leaving the club very easy as reports suggest his agent turned a chair in frustration during transfer talks with Dortmund earlier in the week.
They could potentially reject all offers and let him leave on a free transfer next summer if they’re not able to find a suitable replacement for him but would risk keeping an unhappy player at the club for the season.
Dortmund’s stance on the deal has changed from rejecting all offers to negotiating prices so it looks like a transfer could be on the cards if United are able to get a suitable bid in that works for both camps.
