Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann has signed a new five year deal with Atletico Madrid that reportedly includes a €100 million release clause.
The 25-year-old has been sensational under Diego Simeone’s tutelage for the last two years and with 32 goals last season had garnered attention from teams such as Man United, Barcelona, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
Currently in France on international duty, the news came via Atletico Madrid’s official website confirming he would be remaining at the club until 2021 with the newest deal.

Griezmann is the type of player who would really excel in a Jose Mourinho team and with Diego Simeone deploying similar tactics in the Spanish captial, it is no surprise United were linked with Atletico’s talisman.
Atletico suffered another heartbreaking Champions League final loss to Real Madrid in Milan last May but with Simeone confirming he would return to the club for another season they have ensured that their best players are signed up and the future is somewhat secure as they prepare to launch another assault on domestic and European titles.
While losing out on Griezmann this summer might be tough to take, United fans still have plenty to be optimistic about regarding their summer business thus far and the remaining transfer business left to do. Players such a Andre Gomes and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have been touted as possible arrivals as Mourinho looks to build a squad with his own unique stamp on it.
United’s transfer plans will become a lot more clear once the Euros are finished with Eric Bailly already signing a deal and Zlatan Ibrahimovic expected to follow suit in the coming days, things are looking up at Old Trafford.
