Jose Mourinho wants Ferhat Cogalan at Manchester United – report

by Tanveer Arayan

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing Valencia wonder-kid Ferhat Cogalan to Old Trafford, according to reports.

He scored 22 times and provided 30 assists for Valencia’s youth side last season and is now represented by Habib Antar who worked on West Ham’s deal for Sofiane Feghouli.

Aged just 14, Cogalan is already on the radar of a number of top European clubs with the likes of Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Juventus also interested landing his signature.

Cogalan travelled from Spain last Wednesday with his father and agent to hold discussions over a potential move. Speaking about a transfer, his father insists they have to study a proposal from a club the size of Man United.

“We’re in no hurry because Ferhat is in contract with Valencia until 2021,” he said.

“But when a club like Manchester United invites us, it is logical that we study the proposal, right?”

Man United are keen on reforming their youth team and have already added Tahith Chong to their list of talent in the academy. Cogalan may well prove to be another addition.

He has been regarded as one of the finest prospects to emerge from Valencia’s academy in recent times and it would be interesting to see if they agree to let him leave the club, or if they can hold onto him if they don’t want to let him go.

Though Cogalan is contracted until 2021, his training deal can’t prevent rival clubs from landing his services. He is not old enough to sign a professional contract, therefore the offer will be a youth deal to join United’s academy.
