The French midfielder joined the club from Southampton and struggled through a difficult first season at Old Trafford. He was included in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the Euros when Lassana Diarra was ruled out through injury but is yet to feature for the hosts after watching their last four games from the sidelines.
He was widely considered one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League under Koeman at Southampton and garnered attention from Man United and Arsenal. The midfielder did kick up a fuss during one transfer window, however, when he tweeted a message that slammed the club after denying his chance to move to a bug club.
Both he and the club buried the hatchet over that indiscretion and he went on to have another excellent spell dominating midfields the length and breadth of England under Koeman.
A move to Old Trafford followed but he has failed to adapt fully to life at the club but it would be drastic to suggest he can not turn his form around under Jose Mourinho, who relies heavily on players similar to Schneiderlin in his system of play.
Much of the speculation regarding Mourinho and possible incoming and outgoing players will be made clearer in the coming days as teams get knocked out of the Euros and attention switches back to club football.
