Henrikh Mkhitaryan has sent a text message to Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel to tell him that he is joining Manchester United, according to Bild.
Mkhitaryan has been strongly linked with a move to Man United for a number of weeks and the two parties are said to be close to agreeing a transfer.
Dortmund had wanted to keep the forward but the German club reportedly changed their stance after United upped their offer from £19m to £28m. Mkhitaryan’s relationship with Dortmund has broken down rapidly and they have been disappointed with the player’s behaviour.
It now looks like a switch is imminent, with Mkhitaryan’s message to Tuchel alleged to have read: “I go to Manchester United.”
Mkhitaryan hasn’t really covered himself in glory with the way he has gone about trying to leave Dortmund. His agent, Mino Raiola, has also contributed to the unrest.
But player power is a huge part of football and United, meanwhile, will be glad to have got their man. Mourinho will no doubt look to keep Mkhitaryan in check if he does make the move, which is expected to be completed at some point next week.
