Within the space of 24 hours we have had Zlatan Ibrahimovic announcing he is joining Manchester United with a post on Instagram and the club accidentally revealing Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a new player.
Man United inadvertently released shirts donning Mkhitaryan’s name in the official online United Direct store before they were swiftly taken down. Unfortunately for them, not quickly enough to stop people taking screenshots and the message spreading like wildfire.
While some may think this is a smart photoshop, the likes of Sky Sports, Manchester Evening News and a whole host of reputable sources have ran with the story. It’s legitimate and just a real blunder on United’s part.
Things have certainly changed since Sir Alex retired haven’t they? We’ve gone from not having an official Twitter account to transfers being unveiled with a freudian slip or a post on social media. What a time to be alive.
What an exciting week we’ve got ahead as United fans. How will Ibrahimovic fit in? How will Mkhitaryan settle with his new team-mates in Manchester? Will Bailly take time to adapt to his new surroundings? Lots of questions and no answers just yet but after the players begin their pre-season training we’ll start to find out more about just how Jose Mourinho‘s squad is shaping up.
