Man United play their first pre-season game next week, and jet off to China for friendlies against Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Galatasaray soon after.
Pereira had an electrifying pre-season in 2015 under Louis van Gaal, netting his first goal for Man United against San Jose Earthquakes.
In an interview with ManUtd.com, the Brazilian outlined his hopes for another opportunity to show his worth ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
“It was a very good first pre-season with the team for me,” he said.
“The weather was great in America and lent itself to some really good training sessions and the games were played at a high level.
“I learnt a lot, but mostly that you have to represent your club always in the best way, both on and off the pitch, and that you must always be professional.
“I always look forward to coming back [after the summer break]. When you spend a long time away you want to get back to playing football in your stadium.”
Following such a promising pre-season last time around, Pereira – despite a scoring a memorable free kick against Ipswich – failed to impose himself on United’s starting XI.
With the rich attacking options already at Mourinho’s disposal, the 20-year-old needs a rip-roaring pre-season in order to have any chance of regular first-team football at Old Trafford next season.
Van Gaal blocked his loan move last campaign but wasn’t able to follow up on his promise of playing Pereira on the first-team more often, he definitely deserves to be on the pitch and Mourinho should be assessing the situation as he may need to let the youngster go on loan.
