Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has sent Marcus Rashford a signed shirt with a warming message, urging the youngster to keep playing with “joy and passion.”
Rashford has risen to stardom since breaking into the side back in February, scoring eight goals and earning a place in England’s squad for Euro 2016.
The 18-year-old shared a picture of the signed shirt on social media, expressing his delight at being “appreciated by one of the best.”
Beckham’s message to the youngster read: “To Marcus, good luck and continue working hard and playing with joy and passion. Love David.”

To receive such a glowing message from Beckham, one of the largest figures in sport, is a monumental testament to Rashford’s meteoric rise to fame.
The 41-year-old’s emphasis on “joy and passion” perfectly captures the reason behind why Rashford is rated so highly. His raw aggression, blistering pace and sheer power was a breath of fresh air for a Man United side lacking in zeal last season. The same injection of passion was seen for England in their tumultuous display against Iceland; despite being on the pitch for less than 10 minutes, the 18-year-old displayed more verve than the entire England side pieced together.
United fans can be very excited as this stunning prospect embarks on his first full season in a United shirt.
