Mourinho scouts West Ham’s Reece Oxford – report

Jose Mourinho has sent scouts to watch West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford at the Under 19 European Championships, according to reports.

The 17-year-old starlet burst onto the scene with a sensational performance in central midfield against Arsenal on the opening weekend of the 2015/16 season.

Oxford has been a reported target for some time, with former manager Louis van Gaal also registering interest in the Englishman.

Mourinho has been tracking the player for a while, and is prepared to launch a £10m bid to lure the highly sought after youngster to Old Trafford.

Oxford’s performance at the Emirates last season, at the age of just 16, was truly breathtaking. He looked effortlessly composed on the ball, positioned himself impeccably, and, most surprisingly, matched the Arsenal side for strength in a 0-2 win.

However, Oxford has struggled to make his mark on the first-team ever since, making just 12 appearances. His performances at Under-21 and Under-19 level have been superb, and West Ham are keen to hold on to the player.

But with two years left on his contract, the prospect of a big money move to Old Trafford might just turn the 17-year-old’s head.
