Jose Mourinho insists he’s pleased with Manchester United players after their 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic.
The Portuguese boss lead his side for the first time since he was appointed as manager last month and got the season off to the best possible start.
Goals from Will Keane and Andreas Pereira helped his side claim a 2-0 victory at the DW Stadium, but Mourinho insists the most important aspect was that his team are showcasing principles of training on the pitch.
“Yes I’m very happy,” he said.
“The result obviously isn’t the most important thing but I’m happy with things we tried in training.
“They have started to think football the way I do, that pleases me.
“I could see some principles of our play defensively and offensively out there.”
Mourinho has gotten United’s pre-season off to a good start, but they will need to work hard for the upcoming fixture against Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on July 22.
His new signings Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eirc Bailly have settled in extremely well on the squad and I can’t wait to also see Zlatan Ibrahimovic in action.
It was a comfortable game for United and there’s no doubt fans will now be looking forward to see Mourinho’s infamous rivalry against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on July 25.
