Henrikh Mkhitaryan was in a jovial mood as the Manchester United squad completed their first training session in Shanghai ahead of their pre-season tour.
Jose Mourinho‘s side will face Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City during their 8 day visit to China, before heading off to Sweden for a friendly against Galatasaray.
The 27-year-old, who became Mourinho’s third signing of the summer after joining from Dortmund for £30m, was an electrifying presence at No.10 in Man United’s 2-0 win over Wigan last Saturday.
Mkhitaryan was in good spirits ahead of United’s pre-season match against his former side this Friday.
While Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s arrival ultimately attracted more attention, the capture of Mkhitaryan is arguably the most important signing of the summer so far.
The Armenian captain is in the form of his life; 23 goals and 32 assists last season demonstrate that he is very much embracing the zenith of his career, and his performance against Wigan only raised his stock even further. His deftness on the ball, agility, precision and composure meant no Wigan player could get anywhere near him.
United fans will be immensely excited to see their new creative spark in midfield go up against his former side, who will – should Mkhitartan replicate the same type of performance displayed on Saturday – undoubtedly struggle to contain the beast they created.
