BBC Digital Football Editor Howard Nurse has confirmed that the deal for Paul Pogba to join Manchester United is “close” to completion.
Man United launched a bid for the French midfielder earlier this month, with interest coming from Real Madrid as well.
It was reported yesterday by Gianluca Di Marzio that an agreement over the fee of Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola had been reached, meaning that the deal is set to be completed within the next 48 hours.
When asked by a fan about the Pogba deal, Nurse responded by insisting that Pogba was “close” to becoming a United player.

A rule of thumb when it comes to Premier League transfers is that once the BBC announces something, it’s the real deal. Nurse’s comment aligns with that of Di Marzio, who earlier this week insisted that the one obstacle in this transfer concerned who would pay for Raiola’s fee.
Now that this issue has been resolved, it seems that Pogba’s move to Old Trafford is a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’.
United fans – and fellow players – will be delighted at seeing one of the biggest names in football return to where he first earned his trade. The midfielder’s immense control, strength, supreme technical ability and sheer arrogance aligns perfectly with Mourinho’s desire to form a well organised, powerful and fast team that places emphasis on attacking.
