Henrikh Mkhitaryan has hailed fellow new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, labelling the Swedish striker as an amazing player.
Both players arrived at the club earlier this month and the Armenian has already made a good impression on the pitch following a comprehensive display at No.10 against Wigan Athletic and a goal against former side Borussia Dortmund.
However, Ibrahimovic is yet to feature for Jose Mourinho. The boss didn’t include the 34-year-old in the 25-man pre-season squad that toured China after stating Zlatan would yield greater benefit from a specialised training programme.
In an interview with The Telegraph, the 27-year-old expressed his excitement at the prospect of playing alongside Ibrahimovic.
“He’s an amazing player, the name says everything,” he said.
“I think it will be easy to play with him because he is a high-quality player. He won’t make only my life easier but the team’s life.”
The combination of Mkhitaryan, who clocked up 32 assists last season, and Ibrahimovic, who scored 50 goals last season, threatens to be devastating. If Mourinho can employ a system that allows for these two to form an understanding, then goals will come naturally and regularly.
Manchester United’s main kryptonite last season was their lack of creativity and volume of goals. Through Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic, Mourinho has found the perfect antidote for these woes ahead of the new season.
