Former Manchester United full back Patrice Evra has welcomed Juventus’ new record signing Gonzalo Higuain.
The Turin side activated the striker’s £78m release clause last week and announced the signing on Tuesday.
Juventus’ sudden financial leverage is thought to have its roots in the imminent departure of Paul Pogba to Man United for a fee of around £100m.
Evra, in his typically jovial style, welcomed the Argentinian to the Old Lady with a ‘Running Man’ dance, posted on his Instagram page.
Every now and again, Evra pops up with something – whether it be a warm quote about United, a thumping tackle for either Juventus or France, or even something as simple as a dance – that makes me sorely miss seeing him bombing up and down the left hand side of defence.
But welcome message to Higuain, whilst being delightfully random in its delivery, does precipitate an interesting question for United fans: if Juventus have just shelled out a record sum for a player, then who are they prepared to sell for an even higher sum? At this moment, there can be only one answer. United fans will be anxious to see this transfer get over the line before the new season kicks off in just over two weeks.
