Zlatan Ibrahimovic took part in his first training session with the Manchester United squad on Thursday.

The Swede arrived at Old Trafford in early July but wasn’t part of Jose Mourinho‘s 25-man squad that toured China after the 53-year-old decided that he would be better suited to an extended holiday and a specialised training programme.

Ibrahimovic arrived in Manchester earlier this week, and was at Carrington for the first time today working hard with the senior squad.

Photos reveal the 34-year-old working hard ahead of Man United’s contest with Galatasaray on Saturday, where he could appear in a red shirt for the first time.

Even though he’s been a United player for nearly month, the sight of Ibrahimovic at Carrington training with the squad still seems surreal. What’s noticeable is that, even during an innocuous training session, the 34-year-old exudes a real presence. For a man who has won nine trophies in the last 10 years, it is hardly surprising.

Indeed, the Swede can be influential both on and off the pitch. Like Mourinho, he knows nothing other than success, nothing other than pursuing trophies. That kind of aura was in short supply next season, but the addition of the 34-year-old will radically change the entire outlook of the side, such is his unique character.
