Phil Neville believes Manchester United should smash Gareth Bale’s Real Madrid world record transfer fee to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford this summer.
Reports are intensifying and his move is said to be nearing completion as a deal is expected to be finalised when the Frenchman returns from holiday in America.
Telegraph reporter James Ducker claimed Man United have finally agreed a fee with the Italian club for Pogba’s services on Wednesday night.
Speaking about the transfer, Neville insists Man United would be investing in one of the best best midfield players in the world.
“I think he’s worth it.” he said.
“I think you are getting one of the best midfield players in the world.
“You are getting someone who is not going to dominate a game on the ball like a Xabi Alonso or a Paul Scholes but is going to go from box to box.”
Pogba has proven his potential as one of the best midfielders in the world, despite only being 23, an investment in his ability at this stage would only see his stocks rise as he improves with experience at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho would have hoped to seal his transfer early to avoid a transfer saga, but with Juventus not looking to let their star asset leave the club, Man United had their work ahead of them to try and complete a deal before the opening Premier League fixture against Bournemouth.
He’d be an incredible signing should a deal go through and would definitely play at the heart of Mourinho’s exciting new United squad as they look to take the club back to it’s former glory days.
