Multiple sources are now reporting a deal has been agreed with Juventus to re-sign the Frenchman for a world record transfer fee.
He is currently on holiday but a £110 million transfer to Old Trafford is likely to be concluded when he returns from America.
Speaking about the deal, Mourinho insists he’ll only comment until Pogba has officially departed from the Italian club.
“We have 22 now and we are going to have 23,” he said.
“I don’t like to speak about players from other clubs, other managers like to do that, they like to speak about my club and my players, I’m very pragmatic on this.
“The only thing that matters for me is what’s happening in my house, not my neighbours’s. Pogba is a Juventus player and until officially he isn’t, we stay like this.
“But honestly, the market closes on August 31 but I think my club is trying to do everything to close our market before August 14 [date of Bournemouth Premier League opener], so normally next week we will have our squad closed.”
Mourinho has been intent on completing his summer transfers early this summer to avoid any transfer sagas and has already acquired the services of Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Old Trafford.
However, Pogba’s proposed return to Man Untied has dragged on and the Portuguese boss has set a date for August the 14 where his side will face Bournemouth in the Premier League.
He revealed he will work with 23 man squad at Man United this summer and confirmed Bastian Schweinsteiger would not be included, it now looks like he could be making way for Pogba.
