Arsene Wenger hails Manchester United’s new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists Zlatan Ibrahimovic has age against him at Manchester United this season but praised his qualities and the year he had at Paris St Germain in 2015.

The Swede arrived at Old Trafford this summer and will be looking to build on his glowing array of titles in Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

He scored just four minutes into his Man United debut in a pre-season friendly against Galatasaray in Sweden with a typical Zlatan acrobatic overhead kick.

Speaking about Ibrahimovic, Wenger claims there is no certainty if he will be a success in the Premier League.

“Honestly I don’t know [how he will get on],” he said.

“Going for him is his class, his talent, his desire to do well. What goes against him is that he is not the youngest player anymore, so you are questioned about that in every game.

“From what I saw of him last year at Paris Saint-Germain, it was his most complete season as an individual player and as a team player. He became a really great team player last season.

“On the mental aspect he will bring something to Man United as well. He is a winner, he has charisma and he will give them a strength as well as his individual quality.”

Ibrahimovic has shown no signs of deterioration as he enters the latter stages of his career and his last season at Paris Saint-Germain saw him set a record-best 50 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions.

Zlatan insisted he’d kill for Mourinho in his biography so he’ll have no problems motivating himself with the Portuguese boss in charge at Old Trafford.

His decision to retire from international football will also help him perform at the highest level as he enters a demanding campaign in the Premier League and Europa League.
