Rio Ferdinand believes Jose Mourinho could build a Manchester United squad around Paul Pogba for the next decade if he completes a potential move to Old Trafford this summer.
The Juventus midfielder is said to be close to completing a world record £100 million transfer to Old Trafford after both clubs agreed on a fee for his services.
Jose Mourinho has told reporters he wants to concluded his transfer business before their opening Premier League fixture against Bournemouth on August 14.
Speaking about a deal, Ferdinand claims Pogba has the potential to dictate games at Man United.
“I still think there’s loads more to come from him [Pogba], I think he’s a player that’s producing moments in games,” he said.
“I think he’s a player that has the potential to dictate games as well and taking over a match. If he starts doing that in a Manchester United shirt, he’ll go to another level.
“He’s a player you can build your team around for the next 10 years – that’s how good I think he is.”
Ferdinand arrived at Old Trafford from Leeds United for a record fee for a defender and 2002 and is a great example of what taking risks can achieve.
It’s a staggering amount to play for one player, but at 23 Pogba is already world-class and with experience he will only get better.
It’s a scary thought but if he’s this good now I wonder how he’ll be playing in a few years.
