The Englishman scored a spectacular solo goal as Man United claimed their first piece of silverware under the Portuguese boss in the 2-1 victory over Leicester City at Wembley.
Lingard enjoyed a promising debut season under Louis van Gaal and also played a vital role in the FA Cup final when the club were last at Wembley, scoring the winning goal of the match.
Speaking about Mourinho, Lingard insists he gives the frount four the license to mix up positions.
“He’s [Mourinho] given the front four licence to mix up positions and it makes you feel free,” he said.
“He’s a great manager and he’s won a lot over the years. But the main thing is he makes you feel free.”
Van Gaal was often criticised for encouraging a more prosaic style during his United spell and it looks like the attacking players are relieved Mourinho is in charge as Lingard suggests.
Lingard will be looking to build on his performance this season, he has gone the perfect way about impressing the new boss and increasing his chances of playing again.
Mourinho revealed he was trying to change the mentality of the players away from the Dutchman’s structure and more towards his play style, it looks like the players are also feeling the changes in tactics.
