Jose Mourinho confirms when Paul Pogba will be ready for his Man United debut

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that new world record signing Paul Pogba will be ready to make his second Manchester United debut against Southampton on August 19.

Pogba, who completed his £89m move to Man United on Tuesday, only began pre-season last week following an extended break due to his exertions at Euro 2016 and the subsequent chaos surrounding his potential move to Man United.

The Frenchman is banned for Man United’s opening game of the season against AFC Bournemouth after being handed a one match suspension for receiving two bookings in last season’s Coppa Italia with Juventus.

Speaking at a press conference, Mourinho insisted that his latest signing will be ready in time for the clash with Southampton.

“By Tuesday he will be ready to play against Southampton,” he said.

August 19 promises to be a momentous day for United fans. Under the lights of Old Trafford, Mourinho will finally take his place in that famous home dugout. Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan and Bailly will all make their Premier League bows, whilst Pogba returns to Manchester as the most valuable player in the world, like some space emperor landing on a planet he is about to conquer.

Last season, Old Trafford felt desolate, sapped of joy and energy as Louis van Gaal slowly sucked the life out the side. But just three months later, the mood could be more different. The Theatre of Dreams promises to be awash with noise and life, and I for one cannot wait.
