The Spaniard was sold by Mourinho during his time in charge at Chelsea and many believed his arrival at Old Trafford would bring Mata’s time at Man United to an end.
Mourinho has revealed reports suggesting Mata was angered by his decision to substitute him off in the Community Shield victory over Leicester City were wrong and has explained he was just taking off the shortest player to see out the win.

Mata started Mourinho’s first Premier League game in charge against Bournemouth and will be hoping he impressed the Portuguese boss after he scored the first goal of Mourinho’s era at Man United.
He played in every game of the season last campaign and could be set for a vital role if he can cement himself on the first-team once again.
The Spaniard was linked with plenty of clubs at the start of the season, but it looks like Mourinho has realised what Mata has to offer and will be keeping him at Old Trafford.
