He completed his world record transfer from Juventus this summer and was officially announced by Man United in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Fans will have to wait for his long-awaited Premier League debut after his one match ban followed him to England for the club’s opening game against Bournemouth.
Speaking about his talent, Mourinho believes he has the same qualities as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Scholes.
“We have number 10s, we don’t have what I call a second midfield player, who is strong enough, powerful enough, but has creativity and scores goals,” he said.
“Lampard, Scholes, Gerrrard – the second player who sometimes scores more than the number 10 but defends like a number six. They’re difficult to find. These three unbelievable players represent that.”
Pogba’s arrival represents Mourinho’s intent to build a world-class squad capable of winning titles and getting the club back to it’s former glory days.
He’s still only young and has been backed by Rio Ferdinand to play a vital role at Old Trafford for the next decade and while that sounds exciting I’m just looking forward to see him in a United shirt against Southampton next weekend.
