David de Gea: Paul Pogba will be something special at Manchester United

David De Gea has welcomed Paul Pogba‘s return to Manchester United and admits it feels like the Frenchman never left.

The former Juventus midfielder finalised his move to Man United last week in a deal worth £89 million after winning four Serie A titles in Italy.

Fans were hoping to see him in action against Bournemouth in the opening Premier League game of the season, but his suspension will mean he is set to make his debut against Southampton on Friday night.

Speaking about his transfer, De Gea claims the players are all delighted with his arrival at Old Trafford.

“I think he is something special,” he said.

“Signing for this club, he played here before and I think he’s home.

“He feels like this is his home and we are all really, really happy to have him again in Manchester. He’s now with all his friends again in Manchester, with everyone here, and he looks like he never left the club. He’s really good for the team.

“I think it’s good to have a mix of young players and experienced players,” De Gea continued. “That’s what we have in the team now and I think it’s really good for the young players. They have done really well, they train very hard and it’s really good to see.”

He left Manchester in 2012 after growing frustrated with Sir Alex Ferguson due to a lack of first-team game time, but will return at the heart of Jose Mourinho‘s side.

Pogba’s arrival will help take the club to the next level and will send a message out of Mourinho’s intent to win titles at Old Trafford.

He’s what we needed in midfield and the Portuguese boss deserves praise for bringing him to Manchester without Champions League football to offer this year.
