Daley Blind has been told by Jose Mourinho that he will not be sold by Manchester United this summer, according to The Times.

Many believed his future at Old Trafford would come to an end after The Portuguese boss was appointed as Louis van Gaal‘s sucessor.

However, after some impressive performances Mourinho has allegedly told the Dutchman he will have an important part to play at Old Trafford this season.

Times say Blind is now seen as a player that can help the development of Mourinho’s new signing Eric Bailly.

Chris Smalling‘s injury has resulted in the pair being deployed together in defence and it’s clear Mourinho has seen the benefit of keeping Blind at the club.

The Dutchman’s weaknesses are highlighted when he features in defence and although he may be more suited to a midfield role, he has managed to pull off some impressive showings.

Bailly, Blind and Smalling may be able to open up a pool of defensive options for Mourinho this season and their different play-styles will undoubtedly help Mourinho prepare and counter his rivals.
