Sergio Romero gives his verdict on Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho

Sergio Romero insists Jose Mourinho has been very humble during his time at Manchester United and has helped the club drastically improve.

The Argentinian made ten appearances last season, most at the start of the campaign when David de Gea‘s future at Old Trafford was still under doubt.

With de Gea’s incredible form, he’ll stay second-choice unless the Spaniard is injured, but a busy schedule, included the Europa League fixtures, could see him receive some game time.

Speaking about the Portuguese boss, Romero claims the team have changed a lot under his guidance.

“He is not a very complicated person. He’s been very humble from day one,” he said.

“I didn’t know him and he sent me a message saying that he wished the best for me at the Copa [America in June] and with the national team.

“He keeps track of everything. I saw that here. It’s true that he demands respect from a person but then he gives them free rein to work. He takes the pressure away so that you can work without stress.

“In the short time he’s been here, he has shown us his tactical way of working and now we are already seeing a different Manchester United. The team has changed a lot.

“I hope that this season is better than the last. I hope to play more with my club and to help the national team get to Russia [for the World Cup] in the best way possible.”

He played a big role for his country last season and even helped Argentina reach the Copa America final where they lost on penalties to Chile.

While it doesn’t look like he’ll have a chance to overtake de Gea in the pecking order, he should have an opportunity to impress Jose Mourinho in September where he has revealed his whole squad will receive game time but not many fans will want to see him in because, well, he’s not very good.
