Manchester United and Hull City agree fee for Will Keane – report

by Leo Nieboer

Manchester United and Hull City have agreed a fee for the permanent transfer of Will Keane, according to reports.

Keane joined Man United back in 2007, aged 14, but an injury impeded career has restricted the youngster to just two first team appearances. It was reported earlier this summer Jose Mourinho was willing to hear offers for Keane from other clubs.

Now, according to Mail Online’s Simon Jones, a £1m fee has been agreed for the 23-year-old with the Tigers.

The tale of Will Keane at United will always be a ‘what might have been’ story. A constant glut of goals always brought Keane to the fringes of first team football at Old Trafford, only for injury to radically thwart his momentum.

Indeed, as United fans rejoice over the sheer brilliance of Marcus Rashford, it is easy to forget that the catalyst for his rise to stardom was, in fact, Keane picking up an injury against Shrewsbury Town, leading to the 18-year-old’s inclusion on the bench.

United fans will be disappointed to see such a natural goalscorer leave the club but with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcus Rashford, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay all ahead of him in the striker pecking order, Keane’s career lies elsewhere.
