Mustafi is set to complete his £34m move to the Emirates in the next 24 hours and Valencia manager Pako Ayestarán is determined to fill the gap left by the German defender before the transfer window closes.
According to the Mirror’s John Cross, Valencia have tabled an offer for a season-long loan with an option to buy at the season’s conclusion.
Valencia’s interest, whilst understandable, may well be in vain. After all, it has been made clear by the 26-year-old’s agent, Carlos Goncalves, that Man United have received various offers for the Argentinian throughout the summer, all of which were rejected by Mourinho who still regards Rojo as an important member of his defensive lineup.
Rojo may be a peripheral figure at Old Trafford, consigned to the role of a squad player as Eric Bailly, Daley Blind and Chris Smalling all sit above him in the pecking order, but it really looks like he isn’t going anywhere. Much like Marouane Fellaini, Rojo seems to be a player who most expected to leave the club but who will end up remaining at Old Trafford.
