Dean Henderson has officially signed for Grimsby Town on loan until January.
The Man United goalkeeper, who was named in the England Under-20 squad last week, will gain valuable experience with the League Two newcomers.
He featured in goal for United’s Under-23 side in the Premier League 2 clash at Southampton but has now been allowed to develop his skills at Blundell Park.
Henderson was recalled from Stockport County and was on the bench for the FA Cup tie at Shrewsbury Town during Louis van Gaal‘s reign.
Having been at the club since he was 14, Henderson has worked his way through United’s academy teams and earned himself the No.1 spot for Nicky Butt’s U19s before his Stockport County loan.
His skills have undoubtedly improved since he trained with Victor Valdes after he was banned from training with the first-team as he would have been a brilliant person for Henderson to look up to and guide on his way.
He’s behind the likes Joel Castro Pereira, Sam Johnstone and Kieran O’Hara in the pecking order, but if he can work his way into the first-team after his loan spell, he may have the chance of giving Romero a run for his money to be considered as a back-up for De Gea.
