Marco Rojo could be set for a loan move away from Manchester United, with Valencia keen on acquiring the defender’s services after losing Shkodran Mustafi to Arsenal, according to reports.

The defender is yet to feature under Jose Mourinho this season and didn’t even make the bench for Man United’s 1-0 victory over Hull City on Saturday.

It was confirmed by Rojo’s agent yesterday that the defender has been subject to a number of bids from various clubs, all of which were rejected by United.

However, according to James Whaling, Valencia are determined to bring the Argentinian to La Liga for season long loan with an option to buy at the season’s conclusion.

Rojo’s agent, Carlos Goncalves, has made it explicitly clear that Mourinho, despite sidelining the defender so far this season, harbours no intention of letting the 26-year-old leave Old Trafford. The manager himself, speaking prior to the game with Hull, declared there would be no more departures or arrivals in the summer transfer window.

He may not have featured so far this season, but Rojo, along with the likes of Michael Carrick, Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, Ashley Young and Phil Jones, who have all hardly featured this season, remain fundamental members of Mourinho’s squad, and will receive their chances to impress as United embark on three different competitions in September.
