Sami Khedira: Bastian Schweinsteiger doesn’t deserve to be told to get lost at Man United

Germany and Juventus playmaker Sami Khedira has slammed Manchester United over their treatment of Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The 32-year-old has failed to make a single appearance so far this season under Jose Mourinho and has continued to fall further down the pecking order.

He was linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, but claimed Man United would be the last club in Europe he would play for.

Speaking about Schweinsteiger, Khedira claims he does not deserve to be treated so unfairly.

“I never want to be in the position where a club asks me to leave,” he said.

“A player with a great career behind him doesn’t deserve to have someone tell him ‘hey, get lost.'”

“You have to accept it if Jose Mourinho has other plans. The overall situation is a shame, because Bastian is player I’ve looked up to. On the other hand you have to understand the club. Football is business.”

Schweinsteiger, who was brought in at Old Trafford from Bayern Munich last year by Louis van Gaal, has struggled to impress new boss Mourinho, although he has admitted there are currently no problems between him and the Portuguese boss.

Mourinho has stated it won’t be impossible for him to find game-time this month as United compete for other trophies in England and Europe it will be easier to rotate the squad.

The season has just started and with Europa League coming up, it will be interesting to see if Schweinsteiger can make his way into the starting XI as he’ll have a hard time getting ahead the likes of Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini.

Having recently retired from international football, he will be ready to focus on his United career and will be relishing the opportunity to finally prove himself to Mourinho.
