Mino Raiola has revealed Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United took over a year to complete.
The midfielder joined Jose Mourinho’s side during the summer transfer window in a world record £89m deal.
His agent also represents Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who have both also sealed summer moves to Old Trafford.
Speaking about the deal, Raiola claims it was a long and complicated process.
“Pogba was a deal that we were working on already for a year – maybe longer,” he said.
“It was a complex deal as it involves a lot of parties and involves a lot of high stakes rights and it is difficult to get them all aligned.
“I work for the player, that is always very clear, so try to do what is in the interests of the player, what is his wishes, and I try to keep that always in mind.”
It’s a staggering amount of money for one player, but to suggest he was working on the deal for over a year is interesting as that would mean Louis van Gaal had the same intentions for the Frenchman.
Whether he would have been able to actually land the player is a completely different story, but Mourinho has got the job done and has made some exceptional signings this summer.
