Luke Shaw has given Manchester United an injury boost ahead of the derby by returning to training.
The defender missed England duty this international break after being sent home and was an injury concern for Jose Mourinho ahead of Saturday’s game with Man City.
But with Shaw back in training having confirmed it on his official Instagram page, fans will be hoping he’s fit and ready to start at Old Trafford.
Shaw has been one of our best players so far this season and I’m really not sure we could cope without him against City on Saturday because of how important our full-backs are going to be. With City likely to stack the midfield and both their full-backs looking to stretch United wide, whoever plays for United at full-back is going to have a busy day and we don’t have an adequate replacement for Shaw if he was to miss the game through injury.
As well as that, Shaw’s been influential going forward with United and is only getting more influential with every game that passes as his fitness improves and confidence grows. He has got over his injury woes so well that it’s hard to remember what situation he was in just a few months ago.
The derby this weekend is going to be intense right from the first whistle and we need our strongest players, so here’s hoping Shaw is ready to start but him being back in training is a real boost.
