Manchester United are planning to bring Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford next summer, according to reports.
It’s been just a little over a week sine the summer transfer window closed, but Jose Mourinho has already set his eyes on Athletico Madrid’s star asset.
The Portuguese boss was excellent in his first window at the club and was able to get all of his business done early, securing all four of his fundamental signings before August 8.
Griezmann was brought to Athletico by Diego Simeone in 2014, since then he has scored 57 goals in 108 appearances at the Vicente Calderón Stadium, building quite the reputation for himself during his time at the club.
He managed to bag the Golden Boot award at Euro 2016, finding the back of the net six times for France and it seems like he has caught Mourinho’s eye.
Man United have a sizeable French contingent at Old Trafford with Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Morgan Schneiderlin – and Mourinho is hoping he can convince the fellow countryman to make the move to United.
A deal for Griezmann would not be simple, reports suggest Chelsea are prepared to match United in their interests in the 25-year-old, but Mourinho’s organisational skills have been exceptional and if there is any manager set with the skills to lure Griezmann to Old Trafford, the Portuguese boss is the perfect man.
