Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists he’s flattered by comparisons with Manchester United legend Eric Cantona.

The Swede has made a stunning start to his Man United career, with four goals in just as many Premier League appearances.

Cantona played at Old Trafford for five seasons and was the catalyst for the club’s two decades of domestic dominance under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speaking about Cantona, Ibrahimovic claims every player has to make their own story.

“Every player makes his own story and for the people around them there will always be talks, they will compare the players and say it was like this and that,” he said.

“But I take it as a compliment because he had a fantastic story and history with the club that nobody will take away. It will remain in the history books and in the supporters’ hearts for a long time, so I take it as a compliment.

“But I think every player has his own story, so to compare a story with another story would not be fair, because I’m not in the same team as that time and he’s not on the same team like I am now.”

Cantona is credited for helping inspire United’s Class of ‘92, with Ibrahimovic fulfilling that role with the club’s current crop of youngsters.

The likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw have been full of praise for the big Swede, spending plenty of time with him and undoubtedly inspired by his presence at Old Trafford.
