Manchester United reveal the full cost off sacking Louis van Gaal

Louis van Gaal and his coaching staff were paid £8.4m in compensation by Manchester United.

Ed Woodward announced a record revenue at the club after releasing official financial results on Monday afternoon.

Man United will be the first English club to break the £500m mark with a revenue of £515.3m for 2015/16 season.

The fourth-quarter figures reveal Man United’s wage bill is up to £232.2m and that the club paid £8.4m in compensation payments van Gaal and his coaching staff in May.

He was sacked after failing to qualify for this season’s Champions League and was replaced by Jose Mourinho.

Life at Old Trafford was often uncomfortable under the the Dutchman and when it came down to it, the FA Cup was not enough to save his job.

A fifth-placed finish in the Premier League saw United miss out on Champions League qualification, but hopes are the Portuguese boss can get the club back to it’s former glory days.
