Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward insists Manchester United are writing the next chapter with Jose Mourinho and his new signings.
After Sir Alex Ferguson’s remarkable career at Old Trafford, the club have had the monumental task of trying to find someone to fill his shoes.
The likes of David Moyes and Louis van Gaal have seen the club struggle across all competitions and Mourinho’s arrival represents a new beginning.
Speaking about his impact, Woodward claims Mourinho’s intentions and ambitions will help get the club back to the top of English football.
“His (Mourinho) appointment is a reflection of the club’s determination to return to the pinnacle of our sport,” he said.
“Despite the result on Saturday, there is positive momentum behind the team this year and we expect this season to be one of the most exciting in the Premier League’s history.
“We’ve also signed some top-class players in Bailly, Mkhitaryan, Pogba and, of course, Ibrahimovic. These players will better position us to challenge for trophies in the coming years.
“We are writing the next chapter in our history.”
Mourinho’s arrival at Old Trafford has transformed Man United into title contenders, the Portuguese boss has made solid signings and has brought the right attitude with him.
Despite losing 2-1 to Manchester City, his games have showcased a strengthened core, with threats now installed in all departments on the pitch he has definitely brought the fear factor back.
